Mopa confers Cheiftaincy title on former Kogi Speaker, Olafemi as Balogun of Mopaland

Former Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly and Ex-Acting Governor, Hon Clearance Olafemi has been conferred with honorary title of Balogun of Mopaland on Saturday in Mopa.

Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi at the conferment ceremony, charged people in elevated positions of authorities have been asked to see the privilege as a call to higher responsibility.

The Deputy Governor, said every elevation come from God and is always for the service of the people, urged Nigerians to always put service above personal considerations.

Capt Wada, averred that development is made faster when people collaborate, described Chief Olafemi as a colossus of no mean repute who will no doubt bring his wealth of experience to bear in the development of Mopaland.

The governor also described the new Balogun as a man who over the years have stood out as a reference point not only in the politics of Kogi state but in Nigeria as a whole, begged him to use the present elevation to work for the unity, progress and development of the area.

While still describing Olafemi as a unique politician who had many ways of achieving result, the Governor described him as a tenacious and an un bending individual whose life style should be emulated by young and aspiring politicians.

The Governor who noted that Olafemi’s life should serve as a motivation for hard work and perseverance to the younger generation, commended the Mopa Traditional Council for deeming it
fit to confer on Chief Olafemi, the Balogun title, describing it as well deserved.

The Governor then prayed God to endow the new Balogun with Wisdom, resources and ennoblement to deliver the charge and responsibilities that come with the new office.

In their separate goodwill messages, Prince Abubakar Audu, Kogi State former governor and Alh. Jibrin Isah, all paid glowing tributes to the good qualities of Chief Olafemi, describing him as very dependable and fit for the title, urged him to justify the honour done him by ensuring the growth and development of the area.

Earlier in his remarks,the Elulu of Mopa, Chief Julius Joledo, said the traditional council found Chief Olafemi worthy of the title, following his excellent public and private life track record.

Chief Joledo, said the title which makes Chief Olafemi, the third in command in hierarchy in the traditional council, requires that he brings his wealth of experience to bear in the development of his father land.

In his remarks, Chief Clarence Olafemi, the Balogun of Mopaland, said the interest of Mopaland should be greater than personal interest,assured of his readiness to work with every son and daughter of the area in moving the area forward.

Olafemi stated that the honour done him no doubt comes with higher responsibility, urged the people to remain united, and appealed that nothing should further divide sons and daughters of the area again from pursuing goals of progress and prosperity.
