Nasarawa United secured a slim 2-1 win against Senegalese side, Generation Foot, in the first leg of their preliminary round, CAF Confederation Cup fixture at the National Stadium, Abuja on Sunday.
Tayo Fabiyi opened scoring for the Solid Miners in the fifth minute, but the home side failed to build on the early lead as they spurned several goal scoring chances afterwards.
Niane got the equalizer for the visiting reigning Coupe du Senegal champions in the 52nd minute silencing the home fans as the hosts were punished for their profligacy.
Kabiru Dogo’s men however recovered their lead through Seun Sogbeso in the late moments of the game when they converted from the spot after a Generation Foot player handled the ball in the box.
The second leg comes up in a fortnight at the Deni Birame Ndao about 40 kilometres from Dakar.
