Next Taraba State Governor to emerge from the South

Inhabitants from southern Taraba are determined to ensure the next governor hails from the region.

This follows a meeting held this past weekend at Marraraba.

“By the grace of God, the next governor of Taraba state in 2015 would come from Taraba south.”

“It does not matter what tribe or religion he or she belongs to. The bottom line is that power shift to this zone is non-negotiable, hence the need for the people to come under one umbrella to actualize their dream of producing the next number one citizen of the state,” Senate Committee Chairman on Agriculture and Natural Resources Senator Emmanuel Bwacha.

He argued the northern zone of the state had already run its course while the central zone would be ending its own eight-year run in 2015.

“It is only fair and just that the southern zone produces the next governor with the support of the other zones. People of the zone owe nobody an apology for seeking to also contribute our quota to the progress of Taraba state in occupying the number one seat,” Bwacha argued.

The former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Istifanus Haruna Gbana, backed such efforts.

He pledged to support any individual who would vie for the governor’s post.

Speakers nonetheless paid tribute to incumbent Danbaba Suntai.

“The people from the southern zone of are committed to Governor Suntai governorship which would end only in 2015 when God would give Taraba state another governor but this time from southern Taraba,” Bwacha said.
