NFF Erred in Appointing Peseiro as Eagles Coach – Gara – Gombe

A former Chairman of Gombe United Football Association, Ahmed Gara-Gombe, has criticised the Nigeria Football Federation for appointing Jose Peseiro as Super Eagles coach.

Peseiro has come under fire for the national team’s poor displays and results since taking charge, including two World Cup qualifying draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Gara-Gombe believes the Portuguese is not good enough for the Super Eagles job.

“In the first place, hiring Peseiro for the Super Eagles was one of the greatest mistakes we have ever made,” he told Channels TV.

The former FA chief argued that under Peseiro, Nigeria lacks style and pattern of play.

“What is the outcome? Nigeria does not have a pattern, a style of play, and we struggled to win games,” Gara-Gombe stated.

He slammed the NFF’s “cut and paste strategy” under Peseiro, insisting the coach erred was in appointing the former Venezuela and Saudi Arabia manager.

Peseiro has been tasked with winning the 2023 AFCON to keep his job with the national team.
