Nigeria Football Federation has urged the nation’s senior women side to put in their best towards qualifying for this year’s African Women Championship to be staged in Namibia.

Edwin Okon’s side are currently in camp for an international friendly against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon before playing the Rwanda female national team for the AWC which also serves as qualifiers for the 2015 Fifa Women’s World Cup.

“I have been mandated by the Federation to address you on the need for all hands to be on deck towards achieving the task of qualifying for the AWC to be hosted in Namibia,” Sanusi Mohammed, NFF’s Director of Competition told the players after Wednesday’s training.

“We have a very Herculean task ahead of us,only three teams will qualify to represent Africa at the next FIFA women senior world in Canada.

“Countries like South Africa, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and Ghana and other upcoming countries are not lying low to see that they too qualify for the World Cup.

“ I know it is the dream of every player to represent her country at the World Cup ,so if you want to see yourself qualify and play at the world stage you must be responsive and attentive to whatever you are told to do by your coaches,” he concluded.

The Super Falcons crashed out of the group stage of the 2011 edition hosted by Germany after losing to the hosts and France despite defeating Canada 1-0 in the last group game.
