Nigeian Army Arrests Another Wanted Boko Haram Suspect In Adamawa

Army declares 100 wanted

Following the arrest of Chino Bello, a suspected terrorist, at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja on Saturday, the Nigerian Army said on Monday that its troops have capture another wanted Boko Haram suspect, Ishaku Wardifen, in Adamawa State.

In a statement issued by the acting director of the Army Public Relations, Sani Usman, a Colonel, the army said that troops of 23 Brigade Special Battalion found and arrested Wardifen on Monday morning at a check point in Maiha, Adamawa state, in their ongoing raid of the Islamist group’s hideout.

The army spokesman said that information from the suspect’s preliminary interrogation showed that Wardifen, whose face marches the number 22 suspect in the recently released list of 100 wanted terror suspects, is a Cameroonian citizen.

Last month, the Nigerian Army declared wanted 100 suspected terrorists and released their photographs with a plea for the public to help find them. Two of them have so far being found, the first at the Abuja airport while trying to board a plane to Lagos.

Meanwhile, the latest suspect has since been handed over to the military intelligence department for further investigation and likely prosecution.

Nigerian Army, however, reiterated its appeal for vigilance and security consciousness among the Nigerian citizens, urging them to cooperate by providing useful information to help rid the nation of the menace of terrorism.
