Niger Tornadoes receive huge boost ahead of NPFL clash with Akwa United

Niger Tornadoes will confront Akwa United at the Bako Kontagora Stadium Minna for Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 11 encounter.

Majin Mohammed’s side is looking to build on a 2-0 win over Shooting Stars last weekend and consolidate on home form to climb the NPFL table.

The Ikon Allah Boys are boosted with the return of striker Kufre Ebong who had shaken off his injury set back and in contention for the starting berth against his former club Akwa United.

Kufre suffered a knock during the match day 8 clash against Rivers United in Minna and missed the trip to Katsina, as well as the home win against Shooting Stars last weekend.

The return of the Akwa Ibom born striker is timely and a major boost to the Ikon Allah Boys attack as they aim to consolidate on the last home win.

The strikers’ presence in attack is always a threat for opposition defenders and Majin Mohammed’s side could count him to come out tops this weekend against the visiting Akwa United.

“I’ve worked hard to regain my fitness, thanks to the medical team and everyone involved, including the coaches, for their support and understanding.”

“Facing Akwa United is special, but three points matter most and I’m focused on delivering for my team. Kufre said shortly after the team’s final training ahead of the game.

It took Bashir Usman’s brilliant second half goal last season to seal a win against the Promise Keepers in Kaduna.

Niger Tornadoes could count on Joseph Godstime for goals, the versatile player is the club’s top scorer so far this season with three goals, against Kwara United, Enyimba and Shooting Stars.

WAFU B title winning midfielder with Flying Eagles, Sabiu Ibrahim is back in the team but faces late fitness assessment ahead of this weekend’s NPFL tie, while the CHAN EAGLES duo of Papa Daniel and Abdulrasheed Dabai have also rejoined the team ahead of tomorrow’s encounter.

Niger Tornadoes seats 7th on the NPFL log and a win this weekend could see them move higher the league table.
