Nigeria star Taiwo Awoniyi scoops double Nottingham Forest award

Nigeria forward, Taiwo Awoniyi has won two Nottingham Forest awards for his brilliant performance in August.

Awoniyi was awarded the best Forest player of the month of August and also won the best goal of for the month.

This award is testament to the Super Eagles forward brilliant showing in August by netting three goals in three appearances and with the great mazy run and finish against Manchester United to win the goal of the month award.

The Nigeria striker goal scoring exploits in August made him the third African player to score in seven consecutive matches in the Premier League.

In a club statement regarding the award, Forest said Awoniyi has picked up from he left last season to bang goals at ease in the first month of the Premier League season.

“The Nigerian has picked up from where he left off after an excellent end to last season, scoring three goals and producing an assist in four Premier League games so far this term,” the club wrote on its website.

The 26 year old prolific forward became the first Nottingham Forest forward to score nine goals in seven consecutive matches to grab the player of the month award.

Awoniyi scored a massive 83% if votes casted to emerge the player of the month award above his colleagues.

Forest have now raked in nine points from four matches to seat on the ninth position on the Premier League table as part of their great start to the league campaign was a precious away win against Chelsea in London.
