Nigerian Army Neutralizes Suspected Bandits in Kaduna

The 1 Division Nigerian Army has successfully neutralized six suspected bandits in the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The operation, which took place on November 16, was carried out by troops from 1 Division and Operation Whirl Punch, following reliable intelligence.

According to Lt-Col. Musa Yahaya, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the Division, “The highly motivated troops carried out an offensive clearance operation to bandits’ strongholds in Sabon-Birni, Dogon Dawa, Saulawa, Maidaro-Ngede Allah, and Kidenda, all in Birnin Gwari LGA.”

Yahaya further reported, “In the firefight that ensued when contact was made, troops neutralized six bandits, recovered two AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 rifle magazines, 14 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 40 pairs of bandits uniforms, and nine motorcycles.”

Maj.-Gen. Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding of 1 Division and the Force Commander of Operation Whirl Punch, commended the soldiers for their valour. He stated, “I commend the bravery and dedication of our troops in the successful operation. They have once again demonstrated their commitment to protecting the lives and property of the citizens. We will not rest until all terrorists, bandits, and other lawbreakers within our purview are eliminated.”

The recovery of police and military uniforms during the operation is particularly concerning. Lt-Col. Musa Yahaya highlighted the significance of this find, stating, “The discovery of 40 pairs of bandit uniforms indicates the possibility of criminals impersonating security personnel to carry out illegal activities. This underscores the need for continued vigilance and collaboration between security agencies and the local community.”

The successful operation conducted by the 1 Division Nigerian Army sends a strong message to criminal elements that their activities will not be tolerated. The Nigerian Army remains committed to maintaining peace and security in Kaduna State. Maj.-Gen. Valentine Okoro emphasized, “Our troops will continue to take decisive action to protect the lives and property of the citizens. We urge the community to support us by providing timely and accurate information that can help in our operations.”

The efforts of the 1 Division Nigerian Army in neutralizing these suspected bandits are a significant step towards restoring peace and security in the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area and the wider Kaduna State. The Division’s dedication to eliminating threats and maintaining law and order is commendable, and serves as an example for other security agencies in the region.
