Nigerian Clubs to Receive $50,000 from CAF

Three Nigerian football clubs – Remo Stars, Enyimba and Bendel Insurance – are set to receive $50,000 each from the Confederation of African Football as participation fees for their involvement in continental competitions this season.

CAF has set aside the funds for clubs that were eliminated, including NPFL champions Enyimba and Remo Stars who participated in the Champions League, as well as Bendel Insurance in the Confederation Cup.

Quotes from the article indicate Enyimba were ousted at the first preliminary stage by Al-Ahly Benghazi, while Remo Stars lost on penalties to Medeama. Bendel Insurance battled valiantly before exiting to former champions RS Berkane.

Only Rivers United represented Nigeria in progressing to the group phase of the Confederation Cup, with the other three clubs now receiving compensation from the African governing body for their efforts on the continental stage this term.
