NNL: ABS loses 13 players due to NPL exit

At least thirteen top players who played for Ilorin based Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club (ABS) last season, have moved to other clubs, according to their spokesman Bashir Jimoh.abs fc

The exit of the key players are no doubt linked to the private club relegation woes suffered from topflight at the end of the 2012/2013 season.

The Players includes Ichull Lordson (Warri Wolves), Stone Evbowaine (Dolphins), Abdul Bashir and Zenke (both to Enyimba), Akeem Onigbari, Akeem Audu and Yusuf Abubakar (all to Kwara United).

The club’s spokesman also adding that several coaches are interested in the vacant head coach position at the Ilorin-based club.

Former ABS manager, Suleiman Dogo, has since joined Nasarawa United. Jimoh listed former ABS handler Festus Allen and Erasmus Onuh as one of the many other who have disclosed interest.

“We have a lot of coaches who have applied to take over ABS FC. We have 32 applications now, though it was not that many until coach Dogo left for Nasarawa United. Coaches Festus Allen, Erasmus Onuh and Brimoh are among the applicants. We will soon name a coach to handle the team,” Jimoh told local source.

ABS are bracing up for life in the lower Nigeria National League and kicks off their campaign against Abia Comets on January 25.
