NNL: Kwara Utd Keeps 18 Players, to sign 12
Recently relegated side, Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin, has retained 18 players out of 35 that represented the club in the Nigeria Professional Football League last season.
The General Manager of the club, Mr. Haruna Maigidasanma, disclosed this in Ilorin when Executives of the Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara Chapter paid him a courtesy call in his office.
He said the Afonja Warriors would recruit 12 new players for the new season, and has placed seven players on transfer.
Maigidasanma gave the names of the players on transfer as: Azeez Ikhana, Vincent Ogar, Mayegun Taiwo, Awwalu Aminu, Obiorah Christopher, Ahmed Adebusuyi and Adekunle Muritala.
He also noted that Luqman Ijaiya, one of the oldest players in the team last season has retired from football, and added that Ganiu Ogungbe has travelled abroad to seek greener pasture.
The Kwara Utd GM explained that some of the players that are leaving the club are yet to be cleared by the teams interested in them.
