NPFL: Sunshine Stars sack Fatai Amao, Signs Wolves’ Solomon Ogbeide
Former assistant Super Eagles coach, Fatai Amao has disclosed the circumstances behind his sudden sack last night as handler of Sunshine Stars International of Akure.
According to him, he had only just comeback from holidays only to be greeted by the news of his dismissal.
“It’s very unfortunate that I am no more with Sunshine Stars; I haven’t been around as I traveled immediately after the league ended for a refresher course and I just came back last Friday and I spoke with the coordinator which is Mike Idoko and he told me that with my prospect of getting the U23 job, I won’t be able to combine the roles very well.”
“I don’t know where they got the information from as the Nigeria Football Federation has not informed me of any development and I wasn’t even given a letter for my dismissal” a dejected Amao revealed.
Amao guided Sunshine stars to 12th position on the log table just managing to garner 52 points from 38 games played last season in the Nigeria professional football league.
In the meantime, Sunshine Stars of Akure has appointed new Technical Adviser as Solomon Ogbeide from the 2013 Federation Cup finalists, Warri Wolves.
