NPFL: Warri Wolves thrash El-Kanemi Warriors 5-0, dedicates win to Gov Okowa

Warri Wolves recorded a goal feast on Sunday when they thrashed visiting Elkanemi Warriors by five goals to nothing.

Play was barely eight minutes when Onyekachi Okafor who spearheaded the attack in the absence of Gbolahan Salami slotted in the first goal off a well taken free kick by Michael Egbeta.

Micheal Egbeta increased the tally in the 37th minute by converting a penalty after Abu Azeez was tripped in the eighteen yard box to make it two in favour of rampaging Wolves who ended the first half with the two goals.

With the half time pep talk, Wolves began the second phase by mounting pressure on the Elkanemi team and it paid off when Okafor Onyekachi fired a shot outside the eighteen which beat George Michael in goal for Elkanemi for the third goal in the 46th minute.

Captain Azubuike Egwuekwe who has missed the last two matches through illness headed in the fourth goal of a corner kick well taken by Stanley Dimgba which happens to be his third assist in the match in the 48th minute.

The Warri boys who were fully motivated before the match with the release of fund to pay part of their salaries and bonuses were not satisfied with the four goals and Ichull Lordson who could be regarded as the man of the match fired a volley in the 64th minute which ended in the net for the fifth goal.

At the end of the match , the players dedicated the victory to the Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa who released money before the match.

With this victory, the team now occupies the fourth position with 32 points and with an outstanding match against Kwara United in Ilorin coming up on Wedenesday.
