NPFL Week 3 Reviews: Abia Warriors Cage Heartland in Owerri

Heartland Football Club of Owerri, Imo State failed their fans at Dan Anyam Stadium Sunday evening as they lost vital three points to neighbours Abia Warriors in Day 3 match of the 2015 /2016 season of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

A 67th minute goal from substitute Michael Omaha put Abia Warriors in the lead and they ensured that they defended the lone goal to steal the show in Owerri.

Elsewhere, Ikorodu United won their first game of the season when they met Lobi Stars at the Onikan Stadium. They scored their lone goal of the match through Balogun Kabir in the 11th minute of the first half.

Ivorian Guy Konance had a winning debut with Rivers United in Port Harcourt as they beat IfeanyiUbah 2-0.

The two goals were scored by Frederick Obomate in the 56th minute and Chigozie Ihunda in the 45th minute of the match.

Rangers International won at home in a 2-1 victory over Niger Tornadoes at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu.

Kano Pillars also had it easy over Wikki Tourists in a 2-1 win in Kano, while Plateau United defeated Warri Wolves 2-1 in Jos.

This weekend matches produced a total of 16 goals with six home victories and one away win.

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan had on Saturday walloped MFM FC 3-0.
