Dolphins’ midfielder Isiaka Olawale said fans inspired the Pride of Rivers to victory against Sunshine Stars last weekend.
Dolphins came from a goal down to secure their first league home win against Sunshine Stars of Akure in the week 4 tie of the Nigeria Premier league.
The veteran midfielder told SavidNews that his side’s encounter against the Akure Gunners was a tough one, but insisted the role of the supporters ensured the comeback against their visitors.
The veteran Supersand Eagles captain said that he was confident for a comeback despite his penalty miss and one goal down in the match.
“Good one, though it was not an easy for us to win the game, but it was God who was really on our side. When they scored us, I also missed a penalty for us to level up for 1-1.
“We just had to encourage ourselves being our first home game, with the support and all expectation from our fans, even when we lost penalty my mind said to me we are not going to lose the game.
“Yes, I believe that the game is going to be tough like our game against crown in Ibadan, when we (Dolphins) scored the first goal and they came from one goal down to beat us 2-1,” Olawale explained in confidence for his side’s possible comeback.
Meanwhile, midfielder Isiaka Olawale has set his personal target at winning the Nigeria Premier League trophy this season, insisting Dolphins can still have all it takes to compete for the title.
He assured that he and his teammates will build on their winning start and ensures a victory against Giwa at home.
“We have played three games this season – we have won one, lost won and drew one – it’s no bad start for us. I believe we still remain in the reckoning for title this season. We will go all out for victory against Giwa as the win will be very important in our quest to win the title,” he concluded.
