NWFL: Confluence Queens crush Taraba Queens
Chioma Woyu Success, Captain Esther Nkhuse, Augustine Mary were all on target as Confluence Queens crushed visitors, Taraba Queens 3:0 in their Nigeria Women Football League last home game in current season to extend unbeaten run to five.
Speaking after the victory, the Team Manager, David Owolabi expressed delight in the results and progress of the club after stressing it unbeaten run to five despite a poor start to the league owning to the loss of sixteen players but thanks to the intervention of the Kogi state governor Idris Wada who raised the salaries of the players.
Similarly, the Technical Adviser to the team, Ariki Abdul attributed the fine turn-around for the club to the increasing quality of competition and mentality in the team, stressing that if team continue to improve, good technical and tactical progress will be recorded.
However, team captain Esther Victor Nkhuse who grabbed the second goal against Taraba Queens, applauded the support of Governor Idris Wada, cooperation of the technical crew and fellow teammates for the string of good results recorded.
The Kogi ladies who have been unbeaten in their last four before hosting Taraba Queens were on red alert to feast on their northern counterpart in push to finish the current league season on the high.
Confluence Queens with a game to conclude their current league campaign are on the sixth position with 25 points from seventeen matches in the pool A of the Nigeria Women Football League.
Still very dicey for Confluence Queens who will in their last game trip to Aba to tackle Standard Babes at the weekend needs at least a point to remain in the top six while a win could send them into the three-place but a loss may dash their hopes.
