NWFL: Confluence Queens Gift Santana First Preseason Win
A late minute’s header from midfielder Maestro Amaechi Ojini hands Head Coach Babatunde Santana his first ever friendly win in-charge of the Lokoja Nigeria women league Team Confluence Queens.
As part of the preparation plans for the upcoming Nigeria Women maiden premier League, the Wada queens had their first pre-season friendly match with an U-15 Lokoja base Fuji Boys team at the confluence Stadium, Lokoja.
The visitors came closed to scoring but the goal was ruled for an off-side by the centre referee. The first half of the entertaining game finished goalless.
The second half was not so different from the first –half encounter as both teams played more of an entertaining football despite the sex differences.
However, a brilliant 87 minutes header scored by Amaechi Ojini following Chioma Wogu’s free-kick, made the only difference in the 90 minutes of play; making a bold statement of the Wada Queens superiority over the Fuji Boys, as the game ended 1-0 in favour of the Kogi Confluence Queens FC.
A statement signed by Tosin Ojo the club Spokesperson also revealed that a list of 32 players was on Friday announced by Coach Santana who once vowed to make Kogi Confluence Queens a National Champion.
