NWFL Premiership quartet through to 2024 Sheroes Cup Semifinals

Four teams in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership, Remo Stars Ladies, Naija Ratels, Bayelsa Queens, and Abia Angels have qualified for the last four of the 2024 Sheroes Cup after the conclusion of Match Day five of the 7th edition.

Lucky Mary was the hero of the match as her brace in the first led Abia Angels to a 2-0 victory over Nasarawa Amazon.

Honey Badgers were held to a 1-1 draw. Comfort Saawau with the opening goal in the first half only to drop two points at the stroke of full time through a direct free-kick.

It was a five-goal thriller in the game between Dannaz Ladies and Nazareth Ladies. Chukwuma Augusta gave Dannaz the lead in the 19th minute. Illoma Rosemary responded for Nazareth with the first of her brace in the 21st minute. Ayeni restored the lead for Dannaz, only for Nazareth to equalize through Rosemary’s second of the game a minute later from the spot.

Naomi Galo sealed the win for Nazareth just at the start of the second half with a powerful strike.

In the final game of the day, it was all Naija Ratels that booked a place in the semifinals with a 2-0 win over Heartland Queens. Both goals were scored in the first half by Agama Ziperekefeghe.

Games continue on Tuesday at the Sheroes Cup as Honey Badgers will battle Heartland Queens, and Nasarawa Amazons will lock horns with Nazareth Ladies in a classifications match.
