NWFL Premiership Super 6 Day 5 Previews: Title bid goes down to the wire as Nasarawa Queens face Bayelsa Queens

The 2021/2022 Nigeria Women Football League Premiership Super Six comes to an end today, Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City with the battle for the league crown heading to the wire between Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa and Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia.

Before the big class between the two leading horses, Delta Queens slug it out with newcomers Naija Ratels in an early kick off match at the UNIBEN Sports Complex by 10am before hosts Edo Queens battle defending champions Rivers Angels by 12pm at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

DELTA QUEENS VS NAIJA RATELS

The Asaba based ladies would seek to end their campaign on a high despite being out of the title race with an outright victory against the newcomers at the UNIBEN Stadium on Sunday.

In the battle, one of the final day matches, between the two teams at the bottom of the log, will see fifth-placed Delta, who have managed two draws against Edo Queens and Rivers Angels chase their first win of the competition against bottom placed Naija Ratels.

On the other hand, newcomers Ratels will hope to overcome their disappointing debut campaign with securing at least a point against the five-time Nigerian champions after four defeats in a row.

EDO QUEENS VS RIVERS ANGELS

After the early kick off between Delta and Ratels on the final, It will be a mid-table battle between the hosts Edo Queens and defending champions Rivers Angels at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Third-placed Rivers bounced back from a opening defeat to Bayelsa Queens to draw Delta Queens and claim victories over Naija Ratels and Nasarawa Amazons, while Edo Queens are also enjoying similar resurgence, with a 0-0 draw against Delta Queens and 1-0 victory over Naija Ratels.

As it stands, both teams will be hoping to finish as high as possible, having missed out on the chance of challenging for the title following their disappointing starts to the tournament.

BAYELSA QUEENS VS NASARAWA AMAZONS

Nigeria’s most dramatic title race will finally reach its climax on Sunday when Bayelsa Queens take the field against Nasarawa Amazons ready to end a four-year drought and confirm their title reclaim.

Having won all their games, Bayelsa sit at the table with 12 points from four matches and will only require a point to wrap up their campaign with a title celebration, while Narasawa are with nine points from four matches and need to score up to four to five for an outright win.

The champions will take home a cash prize of N5 Million, medals and giant trophy newly imported from the United Kingdom, second place N3 Million and medals and third place N2 Million and medals, courtesy of the sponsors, Tulcan Energy Resources.

The company will also present, prizes for the league tournament’s highest goal scorer and the Most Valuable Player, with Monday Gift, who has scored seven goals in the Super Six and three in the regular season totalling 10 goals going into this final game in pole position to nick the accolades.
