After losing 4-0 away to Delta Queens last weekend in Oleh, Delta state, the Wada Queens responded well in their week 4 Nigeria Women Premier League encounter against Taraba Queens of Jalingo, scoring four unreplied goals.
Captain Ene Onoja opened the score via spot kick after Aishat Bello was brought down in the 18 yard box. However, Aishat Bello double the lead before the home side few minutes later after out running a defender to shoot pass goalkeeper Bulus Charity in goal for Taraba Queens.
The pressure became unbearable for the visitors as striker Chioma Wogu registered her name on the score sheet to ensure the host finished the first half with a comfortable three goals lead.
Aishat Bello settled for her second goal of the match in the second half as the match at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium finished 4-0 in favour of the host who played in front of their state Governor captain Idris Ichalla Wada.
Head coach for the hosts, Suileman Adamu was quoted by the club spokesperson Tosin Ojo, “I appreciate the determination and fighting spirit of my players, the result shows that we are not happy with what happened in Oleh last week, and it will also help us to be in shape ahead of our crucial clash with Rivers Angels “.
Confluence Queens will play their next game at home to title favourite Rivers Angels but coach Suleiman insists his side is not scared of the Port-Harcourt side “Yes! Rivers Angels are a very good side, we are also a very good side, both teams are in contention for the league but what we did to Taraba Queens today is a message to Rivers Angels”.
