Oba Ovonranmwen Gold Cup: Group Stage Set, Draws Holds in Edo

Governor Adams Oshiomhole and Mr Olarewaju Sunday Ologu, State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Edo State in Benin City

The on-going Oba Ovonranmwen Gold Cup organized by Edebiri Centre for Change in conjunction with the Edo Football Association has reach the group stage after the Championship kicked off last week.

Six teams have reach the group stage they are BJ Foundation FC, Benin Vipers FC, Dynamite Force FC, Santos FC, Ine Stars FC and Joefeb FC.

The draws was held on Wednesday (yesterday) at the Edo football association board room, according to the Secretary of the organizing committee Mr Victor Edokpayi the group stage has in Group A, Benin Vipers FC, Santos FC and Joefeb FC.

In Group B, BJ Foundation FC, Dynamite FC and Ine Stars FC.

The draws was done by former Edo FOotball Association Secretary, and Team Manager of Bendel United Chief F. Osula.

The group stage will take place at the Sam Ogbemudia stadium from on the 21th to 23rd December 2013.

Speaking at the end of the draws, the tournament Director, Ikpomwosa Edebiri thank the teams for their understanding so far in the tournament and says that the championship is an invitation been the first Edition.

“I want to assure you that come next year more teams will be registered, so am happy with the state Football Association for all their support to the tournament i have the believe that next year will be greater than this,” Edebiri said.

The Media coordinator of the tournament, Prince Obaseki Anthony while listing the prizes to be won at the end of the Championship disclosed that the two teams for the finals will be kitted the organiser while the winner will go home with a trophy and N100,000 thousand naira.

Other prizes Best behave team, Best coach, Best goalkeeper, Best Referee, Highest goal scorer and other prizes.

The final comes up on the 14th january 2014 at Sam Ogbemudia stadium with a gala night were awards will be give to the winners.
