The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has drafted a list of 22 players to be invited for the first phase of National team (Male) camping in preparation for World League “Division 5” to be hosted by Jersey Island, (United Kingdom) in May 2016.
Also, eight others are put on standby and could be drafted in at any time, according to officials.
Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, the National team Coach Mr Obruthe Clive Ogbimi said “as we get closer to proper kick off of the World League “Division 5”, observation of our potential squad players is currently in progress.”
The Spokesman of the Federation, Musa Ehizoje Bodie said in compiling the list, the players’ current form, experience, youth and key federation policy values were major selection criteria.
He said: “The stand by players still have to prove their suitability beyond doubts on a number of fronts, as observations are ongoing.”
The federation’s spokesman added that camp will open on the Sunday 31st January 2016, at the NCF Guest house, Efab estate Lokogoma, Abuja and departure is 14th February 2016.
“There will be Camping in Phases before the 1 month closed camp and then pre-tournament before the tournament proper. The phases will allow the Board of selectors enough time to assemble a team to represent the country,” Bodie added.
