Okene LG, Ogembe vows to revive Okene Utd. FC

The Chairman of Okene Local Government Area, Hon. Ahmed Salua Ogbembe who gave indication recently disclosed that hid administration is prepared to commit substantial resources both human, material and funds to resuscitate the football club.

Ogembe disclosed this in his office while receiving members of the team led by the Head of education and socials service department, Mr Flornece I. Asema during a courtesy call on him stated that as a lover of the round leather game, more efforts and machinery will be put in place to ensure the council football team regains its lost glory.

The chairman recalled with nostalgia the performance of the football team which he placed Okene Local government in a pride of place in terms of sporting activities.

According to the press statement issued to the Graphics sports and signed by the special assistant on Media to the Executive Chairman, H. S. Sallahhudeen, the move has become necessary in view of its importance to youths development.

He charged member of the team to rededicate and double their effort so as to ensure the team can favourably compete in both state and national tournaments.

The chairman then directed the head of department to liaise with the leadership of the team for a workable plan, stressing that the revival of the team has become imperative as it will go a long way to curb youth restiveness as well as engage them in a more profitable way.

Earlier in her address, the leaders of the group, Mr Florence Asema had told the Chairman of t]]he need to revive the club from its present state.

She added that the local government mini-stadium deserves proper and adequate maintenance.
