Popular Nigerian rapper Oladipupo Oladimeji, known as Oladips, has apologised to fans for a death hoax spread by his management team.
Speaking to Naija FM, the musician said “It was never a prank. I was sick sick. I am really sorry for the confusion, the false alarm and everything. I take full responsibility.”
Quoted in reports, Oladips blamed the issue on being surrounded by non-professionals, including a former manager who “wished me death”.
“If he was a professional person he would not do such,” the rapper stated.
Oladips said he has learnt from the experience and will now ensure his team consists solely of professionals “that know the right thing to do.”
He pleaded with fans to forgive him, noting his illness and poor judgement of previous representatives contributed to the hoax that upset people.
The clarification aims to close an episode that saw the artist at the centre of a death hoax spread without his consent.
