Omolade George dreams NWPL title with Confluence Queens

Confluence Queens striker Omolade George has expressed excitement at scoring the lone strike that earned her side a 1-0 win at Pelican Stars of Calabar which ended the team’s three-season long away win jinx last Sunday.

The Wada girls recorded their last victory on the road in Ilorin where they defeated Cerenzo FC 1-0 in the 2010/2011 season.

George who joined the Lokoja-based Nigeria Women Premier League at the mid-season of 2013/2014 from Osun Babes of Oshogbo, dedicated her winning goal to the management and teammates of the club.

On how she felt scoring the winner for Confluence Queens, George said, “Wow I feel very happy and great. It means we all focus and determine and more also as it is now we are up to the task to face any team.”

She further told @SavidNews, “Am so very excited been in the team because I love the way everything is going from the management to the players and the kind of opportunity been given to me by the coaches”.

The former Nigeria U17 Women star at the 2012 Fifa Women World Cup at Azerbaijan stated her ambition at winning the Nigeria Women Premier league title this season with Confluence Queens.

“My ambition with the team is to help the team win the league. Personally, I want to be a role model to players like me or the upcoming ones and to remain with the team,” she concluded.

Confluence Queens will face Nasarawa Amazons in a reverse Nigeria Women Premier League fixture at the Confluence stadium on Saturday.
