One Reason I Won’t Challenge APC’s Victory in Kogi – Dino

The Peoples Democratic Party candidate in Kogi’s recent governorship poll has stated he will not contest the declared outcome, citing lost confidence in the judiciary.

Dino Melaye alleges the judiciary is no longer a refuge for ordinary citizens but rather “a department under the All Progressives Congress.” He questions the point of going to tribunal with such a perception.

The Independent National Electoral Commission declared the APC candidate winner in the November vote, defeating Melaye and the SDP standard-bearer. However, the PDP candidate insists the capture of the judicial system by political interests leaves no hope of a fair hearing on electoral petitions.

His refusal to litigate centers on trust issues regarding the ability of the court system to impartially adjudicate potential challenges to the poll result given his strong opinions on perceived affiliation over independence.
