Orolu Emerges Champions of Aregbesola’s Golden Cup

Orolu Local Government, have emerged the winners of the maiden edition of Osun State Governor’s Golden Cup after defeating Ede South Local Government 2-0 in the finals at the Olashore Sports Complex, Iloko Ihesha.

Governor Rauf Aregbesola, watched the finals with his cabinet members among other top dignitaries.

Orolu pacy attacker Oyedokun Michael, capitalized on a defensive blunder to the register the curtain raiser in the 26th minute to end the first half 1-0 in the keenly contested finals.

Ede South came into the second half fighting tooth and nail for the equalizer but, all was to no avail as they conceded a stoppage time goal from a counter attack for Tijani Ibrahim to score his seventh goal of the tournament.

Earlier in the day, Ede North Local Government defeated Ilesha West Local Government, by 1-0 to win the third place match.

Orolu went home with a cash prize of #1million with giant trophy, while Ede South got N500, 000 with trophy.

Ede North also got N300, 000 with trophy, there was presentation of medals, golden boot, fair play award and among others.

Omoluabi Support Group in conjunction with Oranmiyan Campaign Group organized the competition to mark 3 years anniversary of Aregbesola in office.
