Announcing the conferment of the title, Okakuo of Urhonigbe (warlord of Urhonigbe) on the Governor, the Okaevbo of Urhonigbe, Chief Igie Aimuyo, said the title bestowed on the Governor is to show appreciation “for all the good works you did in Urhonigbe which have not only transformed the community but have set it on the path of reclamation of its lost glory.”

The Royal father who conferred the title on the Governor during a “Thank You” visit to him in his office, yesterday, said “we want to commend the Governor for his programme and the holistic attitude towards development of Edo state and Urhonigbe in particular which has been unprecedented.

“You renovated and equipped our secondary school, (Urhonigbe Grammar School) turning it to a University standard; you did same in Idunmwogo Primary School; you did not only elevate our Cottage Hospital to almost an international status, but you also gave us an ambulance.”

The Okaevbo who spoke through Dr Wilson Ogieva said “the most impressive and fascinating of it is the ongoing road project which we have never experienced for the past forty years.”

He thanked the governor for the cordial relationship between him and his deputy, Dr Pius Odubu, whom he described as their true son, suing for the sustenance of the good relationship.

The Deputy Governor, Dr Pius Odubu, who joined his voice to that of the Okaevbo said the Governor has made a major intervention in the development of not only Urhonigbe, but Orhionmwon and indeed, the whole of Edo South and Edo State.

He said: “I have mentioned to you here severally, even in exco proceeding that we can’t begin to imagine what you have done for us.

“Before now, to access our homes and other villages in Orhionmwon, we had to go through Delta; that is the truth, but now there is a road network”, he stressed.

Dr. Odubu reminded his people of the Governor’s effort in other areas, such as building of police station, magistrate court and a solar powered water bore-hole in Urhonigbe.

According to him, “I feel I have to mention those ones so that the Comrade Governor can know the extent of what he has done for Urhonigbe”.

He congratulated the Governor on the conferment of the title, Okakuo of Urhonigbe, saying it is a great honour to done him by the Urhonigbe people in appreciation of the Governor’s development strides in the area.

Responding, Comrade Oshiomhole said “ Let me and your son, Dr Pius Odubu thank you for giving us the benefit of doubt when you queued to vote for us on April 14, 2007, though the vote was stolen, but subsequently by the Grace of God, the mandate was restored.

“I also want to thank you that after four years in office, we again approached you for support to be re-elected for second term and as history would have it, you gave us your support massively, such that we won in every ward in Orhionmwon Local Government Areas including Urhonigbe.

“So it was a matter of obligation that we justify that trust”, he stressed.

Oshiomhole added: “I am glad that vividly, you were able to see all the jobs we have done in your areas and of course, above all. The longest road we are constructing in Edo State”.

He said: “for this acknowledgement, I am spurred to do even more in the area.”

The Governor thanked the Okaevbo and the people of Urhonigbe for the honour done him.
