Osho raises promotion hopes for Remo Stars
Remo Stars coach, Fatai Osho has said his side have a mathematical chance to clinch one of the promotion tickets to the elite league at the end of the ongoing 2012/13 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The Sky Blue Stars are third on the NNL Division B log on 41 points one point behind leaders, Abia Warriors.
Remo Stars will be guests of relegation-threatened side, COD United in Lagos in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Matchday 30 encounter.
Osho said his side blew their chance to cement a place for themselves in the promotion race in the goalless draw against Abia Warriors in the NNL Matchday 29 tie in Ijebu-Ode.
“It’s almost difficult to say right away that we’ll gain promotion to the Premier League at the end of the day. If we had won our last game against Abia Warriors the case would have been different but right now it’s tough.
“Our season’s last match is at COD United in Lagos and they need the maximum three points to escape relegation.
“We must not only win the game to stand chance of gaining promotion but win with wide goal margin but we intend to give the game our very best. In football it’s not over until it’s clearly over who knows the top two teams may stumble in their own games.
“We know it’s pretty tough right now but we won’t give up hope until the last game,” said the coach to supersport.com.
Osho said his side have already made their mark in the ongoing season even before the last match is played.
“We’ve done very well in the ongoing season even if we failed to gain promotion at the end of the season.
“The management was not keenly interested in the side gaining promotion rather a platform for the rookies to express themselves.
“We’ve successfully established the career of the players and they’ve given the league their very best, we’re highly impressed and fulfilled,” he said.
