The President Saturday spoke in Osogbo, Osun State capital during the mega rally for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the August 9th governorship election in the State, Iyiola Omisore.

He recalled how 10 young graduates were killed during the 2011 elections, saying never would government allow that to happen again.

Jonathan mocked the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) for going to court to stop the federal government from deploying heavy security during future elections.

The President noted, “You will recall that in 2011 election 10 young graduates, youth corpers were killed in this country, 10young graduates.

“We will not allow that to happen again. So anybody who thinks that government will fold its hands and allow miscreants to take over the streets of Osun State and cause havoc is deceiving himself.
“We’ll make sure that Osun state is properly policed and anybody who calls himself a thug or a militant or whatever name you call yourself, you find your way to Osun state that day, be rest assured that the security operatives will deal with you according to the law.

“Some parties are even going to court and saying that every election day, we should remove every police officer. Do you agree with them?”, the crowd shouted “No”.

The President insisted that only the PDP has the credentials of a truly democratic party, urging the Osun people to vote for the ruling party next Saturday.

His words, “All what we need from you is your vote on the 9th of August. PDP is the only party that has the credentials of a democratic party.

“Others are just struggling to follow and they are not there yet. None of them can compete with us in terms of transparency in selecting our candidates and in terms of the way we do things and we will continue to promise Nigerians that we ‘ll make sure we solidify democracy in this country. ”

Speaking separately, Vice President Namadi Sambo, the party’s BoT chairman, Tony Anenih; National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, Akwa Ibon Governor, Godswil Akpabio and Ekiti Governor-Elect, Ayodele Fayose, all enjoined Osun people to come out en masse to vote for the PDP governorship candidate, Iyiola Omisore.
