Ouattara honours Mali’s caretaker President

Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara has conferred Mali’s Interim President Dioncounda Traore with the “Grand Cross of the National Order,” Cote d’Ivoire’s highest national honour.

Mr. Traore was conferred with the award during his visit to Cote d’Ivoire’s economic capital, Abidjan, on Tuesday.

President Ouattara said the honour was in recognition of ‘the great work accomplished in such a short time’ by Traore.

In return, President Traore conferred President Ouattara with the Grand Cross of the National Order of Mali, in recognition of the role he played in resolving the Malian crisis, which culminated in the election of the President.

The newly-elected President, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, has also visited President Ouattara to thank him for his efforts in resolving the crisis.
