Owu Sportswear unveils Kogi Utd, Confluence Queens, 7 others
Owu Sportswear, Nigeria’s leading sportswear producers has unveiled its latest products to be used by nine football clubs during the 2013/14 season at an impressive event, on Saturday, January 18, in Lagos.
The clubs are 3SC (Ibadan), Lobi Stars (Makurdi), MFM (Lagos), Kogi United (Lokoja), ABS (Ilorin), Supreme Court (Abuja), Federal Road Safety (FRSC, Abuja), Olutayo (Ilorin) and Confluence Queens (Female Team, Lokoja).
Conceived by Tunji Brown, the brand has continued to gather momentum since securing its first deal with the famous Shooting Stars, the first Nigerian side to win the defunct African Cup Winners Cup and Caf Cup, respectively.
Brown revealed that the jerseys are designed to boost players’ performance.
“The shirts feature laser-cut ventilation holes to promote localized cooling and help regulate players’ temperatures during a match,” Brown, told journalists, in Lagos.
OWU has since become one of the leading partners of 3SC and is already in its fourth year with the Ibadan side.
“We did this with the tradition of the clubs to connect with their fans. A football club is nothing without the community in which it operates,” Brown added.
To boost brand profile and connect with its community, OWU has partnered Friends Africa since 2012 alongside Coca-Cola and Access Bank amongst others to celebrate World AIDS Day.
The brand’s emergence as winner of the Best Designed Jersey category at the inaugural League Bloggers Awards (LBA), in 2012, was a confirmation of its quality.
