Oyo Sports Commissioner Reads Riot Act to 3SC

Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Adedapo Lam-Adesina has expressed dismay at the recent poor results of the club which has seen the club lose out of the Federation Cup and still battling against relegation.

The veteran sports administrator on Tuesday paid an unscheduled visit to the training session of Shooting Stars Sports Club.

Mr. Adedapo Lam – Adesina who had to cut short his leave because of the dwindling fortune of the team, challenged the players and technical crew to buckle up and turn around the fortune of the club for good.

He said the club is being funded with tax-payers money and Government will not tolerate wasteful spending hence the need to produce result.

The Commissioner who held a closed door meeting with the technical crew said thereafter that he is disappointment that despite unprecedented support Oyo State Government has given to the club little or nothing has come in form of good result.

He said every necessary step will be taken to turn around the club. Mr. Lam-Adesina emphasis the need to ensure discipline in the team as it is key to good result.

He said Oyo State Government will not tolerate excuses for poor result as she has done her part.

He said no effort will be spared to salvage the current situation as he cannot fold his arms and watch things go worse for the club.

“It is rather unfortunate that Shooting Stars is in this situation, I want to assure you that we will do everything possible to save this club.” ”

Why should the club be in this situation with all the government has done?”

He queried He called on the club supporters across the world to be patient and prayerful while assuring them of necessary intervention to save the club.

Meanwhile, in accordance with the stern instruction of the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Adedapo Lam-Adesina to ensure discipline in the team, Shooting Stars management has wielded the big stick, with Gbolahan Salami becoming the first casualty of the effort to sanitize the club.

The striker has been suspended for missing two training sessions without excuse while he has also been placed on half salary with effect from July.

The latest effort according to the club is to restore discipline in the team.

Shooting Stars next play Lobi Stars of Markurdi in the Nigeria Premier League on 4th August 2013.
