Paris 2024: Anuoluwapo Opeyori starts Olympics campaign on Tuesday
Nigeria badminton star, Anuoluwapo Opeyori will start his Olympics campaign as the country’s sole participant on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in Paris.
The Team Nigeria captain will face the Swiss by 6:30 pm at La Chapelle Arena.
Opeyori will face Tobias Kuenzi of Switzerland in his first game in men’s badminton singles at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, he will be against China’s Li Shi Feng in the second group game.
Opeyori won the African Championships and African Games in the singles event in 2019. He competed at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan and is the first Nigerian badminton player to qualify for back-to-back Olympics.
After silver medals 2019 African Games in men’s doubles, he also replicated the same feat in 2023 African Games in Ghana.
He has won two African Games titles in mens singles and has five African Championship titles to his name.
