Three Nigerian athletes will participate in the finals of the women’s long jump event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Ese Brume saved the best for last, leaping an automatic qualifying mark of 6.76m to book her spot in the women’s Long Jump final.

Brume was in danger of missing out after falling to ninth place, but she came big on her final attempt to qualify for the final.

Apart from Brume, two other athletes also made it to the long jump finals.

Ruth Usoro made it to the final with 6.68m while Prestina Ochonogor also made it with 6.65m.

Making it to the finals for the three athletes marked another historic feat for Nigeria at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Since Nigeria started competing at the Olympics in 1952, the country has never had three athletes in the final of an individual event.

Brume has made it to the finals of the Olympics, but Usoro and Ochonogor are making their first-ever appearance in the final.

The final is scheduled for Thursday, August 8, 2024.
