Former Nigerian international and President of the Nigeria Olympian Association, Olumide Oyedeji, has urged the national women’s basketball team to maintain their winning streak when they square up against world champions, the United States of America (USA).

D’Tigress will face the USA in the quarter-final of the women’s basketball event at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Wednesday.

Oyedeji, who is a board member of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, led the team’s performance to bring joy to the faces of Nigerians despite current economic challenges.

He urged them to play without fear in the Nigerian Spirit because “Naija no dey carry last”.

The Nigerian Team Captain, who led D’Tigers to Nigeria’s only Afrobasket Trophy, also commended the technical crew of D’Tigress for a job well done.

“Stay strong and play your game; all Nigerians and indeed Africa are behind you,” Oyedeji, who is also the third Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, added.

Olumide was a member of the Nigerian side that qualified for the basketball event of the London 2012 Olympics.

D’Tigress faces the daunting task of beating a USA side that has yet to taste a defeat for over 30 decades.
