By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

As the South African senior women’s national team prepares to land in Nigeria for the first leg of the Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers on Monday, coach Desiree Ellis has released her final squad for the game.

The initial 29-player provisional squad was cut down to 24 for the two-legged final round of the Qualifiers.

Three goalkeepers, eight defenders, seven midfielders, and six forwards made up the final roster.

Veteran Noko Matlou, powerful Lebohang Ramalepe, Linda Motlhalo, Refiloe Jane, Jermaine Seoposenwe, Hildah Magaia, and captain Thembi Kgathlana headline the squad.

While home-based players are expected in Nigeria with the officials on Easter Monday, April 1, 2024, foreign-based players will join up with the team from their base.

The Banyana Banyana take a two-match winning streak over the Super Falcons to Abuja for the first leg next Friday.

Four days later, the return leg will take place in Pretoria with the winner on aggregate qualifying for the women’s football event of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Two slots are up for grabs as far as Africa is concerned for the women’s football event of the Olympics.

Morocco and Zambia will jostle for the other ticket during the same period of the qualifiers.
