PDP Criticizes Ondo Excos Vote of Confidence in Akeredolu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the recent action taken by the Ondo State Executive Council, which passed a vote of confidence in Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. The main opposition party has described the move by the 33 cabinet members as absurd and devoid of sense, claiming that it has subjected the state to ridicule.
In a statement issued by Kennedy Peretei, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP, the party asserts that the cabinet members should be more aware of their responsibilities, especially considering the state’s precarious situation in the absence of the governor.
Peretei stated, “Observant followers of Ondo State politics may be wondering how the state has descended into this deplorable state of affairs—where the ship of the state is adrift on the high seas, lacking a captain and direction, and on the verge of a dangerous precipice. As if to further undermine whatever is left of the Akeredolu administration, two state commissioners have derided the purported communique as ‘senseless’ and ‘ineffective’.”
He continued, “The situation in Ondo State has never been this dire. Who voted for Babajide as the governor, or his mother Betty, both of whom have held the state captive? Now that the State Executive Committee has decided to expose its incompetence in public, it is evident that the days of this government are numbered.”
Meanwhile, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the PDP’s stance on the matter as unfounded. Steve Otaloro, the Director of Media Publicity for the APC, stated, “It is disheartening to witness the PDP consistently belittle the achievements of Governor Akeredolu and his government, with their attacks consistently missing the mark. The latest criticism from the PDP regarding the State Executive Council’s resolution on Governor Akeredolu’s government is yet another example of baseless attacks.”
Otaloro further added, “The resolution commended the governor for his unwavering commitment to good governance, integrity, and exemplary leadership, which have consistently motivated and inspired the council members to fulfill their duties to the state.”
