Pelican Stars car breaks down, want Bus
Nigeria Women Football League club Pelican Stars’ Team Manager, Ali Ita has appealed to the Cross Rivers state government for a 32-seater bus to ease transportation.
The Calabar Ladies defeated league rivals, Delta Queens 3-1 on Thursday to advance to the semi-finals of the 2013 Women Federation
Cup despite expressing traveling difficulties.
Mr Ita expressed disappointment in the road mishap encountered in Abuja, appealed to the Governor Liyel Imoke led government for quick intervention.
He explained that the team have continued suffer various traveling challenges and growing frustration over the poor condition of the vehicle in recent week.
He admitted the team been lucky not to have missed the quarter final encounter against Delta Queens.
“We are happy earning a win over Delta but were lucky not to have been worked over after arrived their 2013 Federation Cup venue in
Abuja on a chattered commercial taxi after our car broke down in Abuja.
“We plead with the government to come to our rescue but the situation which is getting out of hand – it almost cost us,” he added.
Meanwhile Ali Ita, the TM of Pelican stars has declared the team will not be carried away by the upset recorded after landslide 3-1 victory over high-profile Delta Queens.
He added that the team remain determined to win the title after failing in last year final against Rivers Angels.
“We are delighted despite many thought we can’t make it happen – we are determined to win the title this time,” he enthused.
