Plateau sweeps Magic FM 2015 Aba Half Marathon Race

Plateau State staged a sweep winning most of the top cash prizes in men and women category at the 3rd Edition of the Magic FM 2015 Aba Half Marathon held on Sunday, December 20 in Aba.
Plateau’s Adamu Shehu who came fourth last year beat his personal best to win the men’s title, while Kenya’s Fridah Lodeba nicked the women’s title in her first race on Nigerian soil.
In the male category, Shehu (51) finished in winning time of 1hour, 07 minutes and 07 seconds, finishing ahead fellow compatriot Gideon Goye (89) by just a minute while Fiemi Justinlin (8) was the third best finisher in time of 1 hour, 27 minutes and 08 seconds.
In the female category, Lodeba of Kenya had ten minutes winning advantage against closest rivals and Plateau duo of Hudung Gyang and Steven Kistinua in second and third respectively.
Drama erupted when Abia State’s Ezuche Monday was disqualified after she was erronously awarded the title winner in the women category following a protest.
Others top finalists for men are Solomon Yilban, Williams Kefas, Jigak Monday and Danjuma Gyang who finished in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh respectively were all from Plateau State. In eighth position was Tokbe Gwet.
While for women, Nwokoji Chinonso in fourth, Dinatu Yohanna in fifth, Hatto Lovelyn as sixth, while Monica Ezekiel and Janet Dung who finished in seventh and eighth respectively are both from Plateau State. In ninth and tenth places were Ogunkoya Muibat and Uba Glory in the women category.
The winners in both categories will receive $5000 as runners up goes home with $4,500 while third place winners get $4,000.
Fourth receives $3500, Fifth grabs $3000, sixth nicks $2500, while seventh bags $2000 as eighth gets $1000 and $1000 and $500 go to ninth and tenth place finishers.
