President Buhari Appoints Ahmed Jafaru As new Controller-General of Prisions

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Ahmed Ja’afaru as the new Controller-General of the Nigeria Prisons Service.

This was contained in a statement signed by Bassey Akpanyung, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.

Until his appointment, Ja’afaru was an Assistant Controller General of Prisons and was serving at the Prisons Headquarters in Abuja.

NAN reports that Ja’afaru replaces Dr. Peter Ekpendu, who retired from service on May 17, 2016 after the mandatory 35 years in service.

The statement said Ja’afaru’s appointment took effect from May 17, 2016, the day Ekpendu retired from service.
