President Muhammadu Buhari sacks service chiefs, appoints replacements

President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the service chiefs that he inherited from the previous administration following the unabated fight against the terror group, Boko Haram.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Kenneth Minimah, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin and Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh were reportedly among those discussing security operations against the Islamist Boko Haram militant group in Aso Rock today.

However, the replacements have been announced following the approval of President Buhari with Major-General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin as Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General T.Y. Buratai as Chief of Army Staff and Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as Chief of Naval Staff.

Other are Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Monday Riku Morgan as Chief of Defence Intelligence and Major-General Babagana Monguno (rtd.) as National Security Adviser.
