President Unity Cup: Kogi tackles Kebbi in S/M Finals Saturday

Hosts, Kogi after two consecutive wins against Taraba and Ekiti with 2-0 and 3-0 respectively face a semi-final clash with free-goal scoring Kebbi in the on-going YSFON President Unity Cup U-17 Boys Soccer Championship in Lokoja on Saturday.ysfon-1

The football tournament is the tenth edition of the President Unity Cup with Bayelsa the defending champions.

On Friday, the northern semi-final derby between Taraba and Bauchi ended in favour of the politically-unstable Jalingo based side as the lone second strike from Henrik Julius settled the duel which was dubbed Manchester United versus Arsenal to secure a place in the finals.

Kebbi despite finishing second in group B has garnered a total of eight goals conceding one in three matches and two goals better than Kogi who are yet concede in the tournament.

The finals billed for Saturday which has been moved to Monday will pitch winners of semi-final clash between Kogi vs Kebbi on Saturday against finalists, Taraba in the YSFON President Unity Cup U-17 Boys Soccer Championship bankrolled by Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State.

Organizers, the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria have confirmed the re-scheduled final was not unconnected to the intending presence of this year’s sponsor, His Excellency, Captain Idris Wada, the governor of Kogi State at the grand finale.
