President Unity Cup: Kogi United Boss Salute Wada on victorious Kogi
The Chairman of Kogi United Football Club, Mallam Abdul Adama yesterday congratulated the state governor, Captain Idris Wada on Kogi State for winning the 10th edition of the President Unity Cup U-17 Boys Soccer Championship after they defeated Taraba 1-0 on Monday.
While expressing delight at the quality of performance displayed by the finalists, Mallam Adama who watched the finals, confessed he was overwhelmed and impressed by the quality football played by the Kogi boys which secured them the undisputable victory.
Adama, a grassroots’ football crusader believes with the quality talents displayed the players will go places.
The Idah-born football administrator commended the team for making the state proud and indicated that the players have great potentials to become world stars and possibly break into the national team.
He however commended and congratulated the kogi state governor, Captain Idris Wada for accepting to host and backing the state team to participate in the tournament.
He further applauded the organizers for staging a hitch-free soccer championship and efforts to provide tournaments in view of discovery talents.
A long range effort by midfielder Abbas Ibrahim from free kick spot with 40 yards out helped Kogi state brush aside the Jalingo boys to grab its first National U-17 President Unity trophy late on Monday at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.
