President Unity Cup: Taraba gets Bauchi, Kogi tackles Kebbi in S/M Finals Friday

Taraba hammered Ekiti 5-0 yesterday to set-up a semi-final duel with Bauchi in the on-going YSFON President Unity Cup U-17 Boys Soccer Championship in Lokoja on Friday.

The football tournament is the tenth edition of the President Unity Cup with Bayelsa the defending champions.

The northern derby between Taraba and Bauchi became undisputed after Taraba edged Ekiti into the semi-finals courtesy of its 5-0 thrashing to finish second on three points in Group A behind hosts, Kogi while high flying Bauchi finished top in Group B with nine points.

Bauchi earned three points in their opening match after walked over FCT who failed to show up, thrashed Osun 5-0 before edged past in-form Kebbi 1-0 in final group encounter.

In group A, Hosts, Kogi after two consecutive wins against Taraba and Ekiti with 2-0 and 3-0 respectively opened a semi-final clash with free-goal scoring Kebbi on Friday.

Kebbi despite finishing second in group B following a slim 1-0 loss to toppers, Bauchi has garnered a total of eight goals conceding one in three matches and two goals better than semifinals opponents, Kogi who are yet concede in the tournament.

The finals billed for Saturday will pitch winners of Kogi vs Kebbi against winners of Taraba vs Bauchi from the separate semi-final duels of the YSFON President Unity Cup U-17 Boys Soccer Championship bankrolled by Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State.
