President Unity Cup: “We’ll prove Kogi got talents for National team”, Abbas on final

Captain of Kogi state Football team, Abbas Mohammed says he and his teammates will by beating Taraba prove to the world that football talents resides in the state when they meet in the finals of the President Unity Cup U-17 Boys Soccer Championship.

Abbas, 15 years old believes the team’s performance in the on-going football tournament will endear young talents in the state to the national team and inform many that host of talents abound in the state.

The hosts’ skipper who plays for Idah Dream team Football Academy has continued to shone like a million stars in the middle of the pack for the Lokoja-based boys are the look to win the football tournament.

Abbas, is a former member of Nigeria age-grade national team, U-13 that won an invitational tournament in London in 2009.

He was also a member of the Nigeria National U-15 team in 2012 that hosted the likes of Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi and Chidera Ezeh who won the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup though failed to attend an invitational tournament in Mexico owing to Nigeria Football Federation’s financial challenges.

Hosts, Kogi will play Taraba who they earlier thrashed 2-0 in their opening game at the Kogi Confluence Stadium, Lokoja by 4pm on Monday, 23 December 2013.
