Seasiders Babes of Lagos cruised past Abia Valliants 34-13 in the female category on the opening day of the second phase of the Prudent Energy Handball league in Lagos.
The Lagos based ladies made an impressive start, gaining a 15-8 first-half lead against Abia Valiants before they ran riot in the second half to ensure a big win with 21 points advantage.
In another result, Defender Babes came from behind to pip Edo Dynamos 17-16 in an entertaining match. The well-contested encounter saw Edo Dymanos earn a 9-6 lead but failed to hold their nerve, paving way for the Benin based side to crawl back and secure a win.
Safety Babes and Imo grasshoppers shared the spoils as both sides played out a 21-21 draw. The Lady Grasshoppers had an impressive start with an 11-8 lead over Safety Babes in the opening half before letting the Owerri based side bounced back to earn a draw.
Other results saw Kada Queens crushed Desert Queens 32-15, while Plateau Peacocks outscored Owena Queens 36-27 to make a winning start to their league campaign.
