Kano Pillars defeated Ghana U-23 national team 1-0 on Saturday in a friendly game played at the Township Stadium, Accra.

Rabiu Ali’s lone goal was enough for the Nigerian side to secure the vital win as they rounded up their training tour of Ghana on an impressive fashion ahead of their 2015 Caf Champions League campaign.

Pillars began the encounter showing plenty of ambitions to win but failed to convert several begging chances in the opening period as the hosts held out for a scoreless draw.

However, the Nigerians did not lose their desire for victory and were rewarded with a lead from a penalty spot which was cleverly converted by Ali in the 63rd minute of the second half.

The victory for the Nigerian league champions was their first win in two friendly games since they arrived Ghana last Monday, February 2 after a 2-2 draw with Accra Hearts of Oak on Thursday.
