Rainstorm Destroys 75 Houses in Kaduna

About 75 houses were yesterday destroyed by rainstorm in Kabala-West, Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna State, while over 300 people homeless and electricity poles were pulled down.

A resident, Yusuf Mamman whose house was affected described the incident as unfortunate. He said “the rain was not heavy, but the wind was what destroyed our houses. We are calling on the government and the emergency agencies to come to our rescue because many of us don’t have where to lay our heads.”

A disabled, Mathew Ibrahim whose was totally destroyed by the rainstorm said he has no any other alternative place to live.

He said “I was in the house when the rain started. It suddenly came with a heavy wind. The next thing I heard was the sound of zinc fleeing off the roof. Before I knew it, water started dropping on my head. On raising up my eyes, the roof was gone. We are calling on the government to help us.”

Youth leader of Kabala-West community, Goni Sabo said apart from the over 75 houses that were destroyed by the rain, places of worship were also affected.
